Two deep food thoughts on Easter
one. That I reached into the Easter basket this morning, opened a pack of gummy bears and then realized that they are verboten. Sad day. Same goes for my delicious Cocomels with sea salt. Totally bumming.
Two. How awkward it is to discuss a fruit intolerance. I’ve been messing with my diet so much that I feel like people just think it’s another fad. I guess time will tell, along with continued good progress. It’s embarrassing telling people that you have an intolerance to FRUIT. The guy at the grocery store asked me why I was returning all the food and I just said allergy, hoping to leave it at that. He pressed and asked “to what” (curiosity, not because I had to say to get money back) and I considered lying but couldn’t come up with anything fast enough so I just shrugged my shoulders and said fruit. And then felt like I had to make some justifying comment. And today too. It’s so unknown that people look at you like you’ve just made up something crazy. Hopefully it will get easier...! 😳
