Beauty product investigative work
Since what you put on your body goes on your largest organ, your skin, I figure that this needs an overhaul too so that I can be able to see a difference. I figured this would be a bit challenging. I didn’t realize it was practically impossible. I started with shampoo and spent a good 20 minutes picking up every single shampoo that even slightly looked promising at my local health food store. No luck. Every single product has fruit. Most were coconut or coconut derivatives. If I was lucky enough to find a coconut free product, it had either olive oil or some type of fruit or fruit oil. Which got me to thinking: how healthy is it that coconut (a fruit which does not grow anywhere close to the Midwest) is in EVERYTHING? From coconut water to coconut oil to coconut milk to all these beauty products that have ingredients with coco something or other... I was totally on this bandwagon but this little search has my eyebrows raised. I’m of German descent, living in the Midwest. Should I really be consuming and slathering coconut 24/7?! I digress. Anyway the search continues. I did find a company called terressentials that seems to be okay but I have a call in about their aloe to make sure it is citric acid free. It’s expensive but seems like an interesting product. When I get an answer, I’ll be sure to post.
On the food front, all is going fairly well. Though I did succumb to temptation and eat two Dove dark chocolates at a homeschooling coop. Lesson: don’t go somewhere hungry if you expect to be able to turn down sugar. I’m paying for it with itchy toes. And the 6 hour buffer for grains and potatoes is not so fun when you didn’t finish your sweet potato breakfast and dinner (with grains) is scheduled in a few hours. Hope it will keep for tomorrow... also, I’m eating my weight in Fage full fat Greek yogurt. It’s the easiest snack I’ve found and much more appetizing than a carrot.
